Your comparison
The proportions of a purchase
Choose the job.
Then choose the silk.
A small accent
A narrow bandeau or a small square keeps the gesture compact. Consider it for a bag, a ponytail or a modest neckline detail. Check the length needed for your knot: these formats are not interchangeable.
A working square
A square around 70–90 cm is a useful starting point for neckline folds and some hair styles. A 90 cm square gives more cloth to work with; a 70 cm square can feel less full. Fit depends on the fold and the wearer.
Room to drape
For the shoulders, start with coverage and fastening rather than a familiar size name. Large squares and long rectangles behave differently. A sheer silk chiffon scarf supplies movement, not the warmth of a wool wrap.
The folded test
Buy the colour
you will actually see.
Open, a scarf can be an elaborate drawing. Folded, it may become little more than a border and two flashes of colour. Before choosing, compare both views against a shirt or jacket you already own. The picture you admire and the scarf you wear should both give you pleasure.
What to look for in the cloth and finish ↗Before ordering
A practical
last look.
Confirm the exact composition, dimensions, care label and total delivered price. For a gift, check arrival dates, presentation and whether the recipient can exchange the colour. For resale, request a written condition report and understand the seller’s authentication and return arrangements.
Never treat “satin” as a fibre declaration or assume that every scarf from a luxury house is 100% silk. Read the individual listing.
How the finder makes its suggestions
Created by Silk Scarves editorial. Research basis: our twelve sourced brand profiles, September 2026. The finder uses fixed editorial rules, not an AI chatbot or a paid ranking. It first checks the intended wearing use, then prioritises compatible print directions. Equally matched houses appear alphabetically. Wardrobe colour changes the palette advice, not a claim about current stock; the gift answer changes the buying checklist.
Specifications refer to the named examples, not entire collections. Suggestions are research-based and have not been wear-tested by this publication. Prices and availability are not live; check the seller before purchasing. The finder does not send your answers to a recommendation service or require personal details. A shared result link includes your selected answers and comparison choices. Ordinary site privacy and analytics settings still apply.
Why no budget filter?
A house’s price range is not the price of a particular scarf. Until this tool has a regularly maintained product-price catalogue, a budget filter could give misleading results. Set a maximum delivered spend, then check the exact design with the seller. A smaller format may cost less but cannot perform every job of a larger square.
